Conditions for performing a urea breath test for the diagnosis of Helicobacter pylori

– Contraindicated in pregnant and breastfeeding women

– Use caution in cases of gastrectomy

-Fasting: no eating, drinking or smoking since the day before

– The patient should be in a resting position during the sample collection.

– The use of certain medicines may interfere with this test. Proton pump inhibitors should be stopped 2 weeks before the test and antibiotics 4 weeks before.
